Rayon Sports of Rwanda and Al Merrikh of Sudan will face off in an international club friendly on September 3 as part of their preparations for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup events.
The game, which will take place at an undetermined location, is being organized by the Nyanza District in collaboration with FXB Rwanda as part of a program to combat child maltreatment and teen pregnancy.
Due to the political upheaval in Sudan, Al Merrikh are presently located in Huye District and have been practicing at Huye Stadium, which acts as their home field for their CAF Champions League campaign.
On Friday, the Sudanese champions hosted AS Otoho ‘Oyo at the same venue and defeated them on away goals to go to the next round.
Both sides anticipate that the friendly encounter will benefit their players by keeping them active throughout the international break.
Rayon Sports will meet Al Hilal Benghazi in the opening leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second round in Libya on September 15, while Al Merrikh will host Tanzanian side Young Africans at Huye Stadium on the same day in a CAF Champions League second round encounter.
