Tanzanian singer Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, as Diamond Platnumz, has expressed his excitement about performing in Kigali in front of President Paul Kagame, whom he admires.
Diamond performed with Rwandan-British choreographer Cherrie Silver and other celebrities at the beginning of the Giants of Africa Festival on August 13, but he claimed to be the luckiest of them.
He described performing at BK Arena in front of thousands of supporters as a “dream come true.” But having President Kagame in the crowd was very exciting.
“When you come to Rwanda, you immediately fall in love with the country because of its peace, cleanliness, and order in everything.” I am really proud of you, Your Excellency. “Believe me, we love you so much,” he continued.
Diamond were delighted with a magnificent present by Masai Ujili, creator of Giants of Africa, who awarded him with a shirt with a drawing of ‘Simba,’ a Swahili term for ‘Lion,’ which is strong in his songs.
The Giants of Africa Festival, which celebrates its 20th year, will begin on Sunday, August 13, and will last for one week in Kigali’s capital, containing a variety of entertainment and sporting events.
