After consuming tainted non-alcoholic sorghum drink during a wedding ceremony, at least 47 residents of Rulindo district’s Cyinzuzi sector are hospitalized with stomach and intestinal problems.
According to information from UMUSEKE, the victims attended the wedding of a 67-year-old man from the Budakiranya cell’s Kigarama hamlet.
The participants were all in good health on the first day of the ritual, but the old man welcomed them back the next day and served them beer; unfortunately, everyone who drank the sorghum drink experienced severe abdomen and stomach agony that persisted until several of them were brought to the hospital.

According to the patients, the sorghum drink they drank during the wedding was the source of their illness, he stated.
Other folks who drank the beverage reportedly need to get checked out by a doctor and given medication.
